Being a long time blog reader, I have read about people having Foodie Pen Pals over and over again. However, in September, once Andrew and I slowed down on the house for {what seemed like only} 10 minutes, we decided to finally participate.
So this month, we were so excited to be paired with Meg from My Borrowed Heaven (who actually was getting married the week she was receiving my package - more on that later). She is originally from the Northeast and such a doll! Now she is living in Charleston and focused her package on that - which we LOVED.
How awesome does this place look?! |
Andrew and I decided to tackle putting together the package for Meg as a team and we are so happy with how it turned out. For $15, we think we got pretty creative! (To see what we sent Meg, just hop on over to her blog!)
Now, onto what she sent us!
We first opened the package and noticed that things were all very organized and noted with, my favorite, Post Its! Meg is definitely a girl after my own heart! She had a cute postcard with a picture of Charleston on it, which made us definitely want to visit sometime. All of her items were somehow purposed for our renovation relaxation - or survival {Yup, definitely survival half of the time}.
First there was a package of ladybug paper straws {Meg didn't even know that I love to use paper straws in my kitchen decor!} which had a Post It saying "For... a little luck and that well-deserved drink". How cute!
Then there was practically an entire meal: shells and cheese, gooey center cookies for dessert, and Orbit just in case! She even included peach butter for the {planned} biscuits! This girl thought of everything.
When we opened the package, we opened three things practically right away.
The Beef Jerky was gone before we went to church that evening. GONE. We opened it and it didn't last long - because it was delicious! It wasn't tough like your typical jerky, it was soft and juicy and we loved it!
Another was the BBQ sauce. We are a sucker for sauces from different parts of the states, and this one was no exception. While different than the sauce we sent her (talk about regional differences!) - we can't wait to pair it with some grilled chicken. It will be something that will allow us to mix up or ordinary a bit and that's a good thing!
And finally, we opened the "Sweet 'n Crunchy" popcorn. We don't typically buy popcorn for ourselves (Boy Scouts excluded), and we had been searching the house for something sweet {Yay reno! No time to go to the store and buy junk food!} and it arrived with perfect timing. I wasn't sure about Kettle-Corn-esque popping in a microwave bag. But Meg knew exactly what she was doing - it was lovely! I just suggest taking the extra step and pouring it into a bowl to avoid sticky fingers - if it makes it that long.
We have already signed up for next month. Lindsay, over at The Lean Green Bean hosts, and anyone can join. You have to sign up by the 4th of this month though - so get on it! If you sign up on the 5th or later, you will be a part of the November group. It is definitely a blast!
As I mentioned, Meg got married in September! She has some beautiful pictures up already on her blog, and a lot of lovely posts dedicated to keeping everyone up to date on her wedding planning. She did such a great job! And she was so calm, cool, and collected about the whole thing {my family would be the first to tell you that I certainly couldn't be described that way!}. Please go check it out and watch out for her actual wedding updates in the days/months to come!
I'm so glad you enjoyed everything!! Thanks so much for sending me such a fantastic package. Can't wait to keep following along with your blog. Good luck with your A/C issues :(
