Weekend Review

So here is how our weekend went... It felt like it actually went pretty slow (how many times in your life do you get to claim a weekend went slow?) but at the same time like it flew by.  We both lived in the moment this weekend, and I think that helped!

Be warned: there are a lot of "in the moment" pictures in this post! {And quite a few sneak peeks for the new house - which the process and steps are going to start coming in November!}

Friday Night

We had our "niece" {my 9 month older cousin's child} over for a sleepover.  Goodness was she excited! We started off by reading some of Andrew's childhood books (thank you to a great MIL who kept them intact, around, and passed them down!), making Aubrie's favorite meal, and baking dessert.   There may, or may not, have been toenail painting in the color of Aubrie's choice.  Who knew sparkly purple would have been picked?

Awful painting job, but you try to paint a wiggling 4 year old playing tug of war with Lizzie {the 100+ lb dog!}

And we finally hung one picture.  Baby steps, baby steps...

Moo.... Andrew's dad painted us this cow {yet to be named} and we finally hung it!}

At the end of the night, we cooked delicious cookies sent during September's Foodie Pen Pal by the darling Meg over at My Borrowed Heaven.  Needless to say, Aubrie loved it.

She did it all on her own - with a bit of "Frozen" help in the background.

This girl is so sweet you will need milk every time!

Saturday Morning

We got up, and had delicious pumpkin bread Andrew made the night before.  He isn't typically the baker {that's my job}, but man-o-man he did a wonderful job.  He cut off a slice, buttered the sides and toasted them on the stove top.  It tasted like a custardy, pumpkin french toast.  It was absolutely perfect.  We enjoyed homemade espresso and honestly had the best and most perfect morning {not the norm around here}.  I even got to spend time doing devotions with She Reads Truth!

I have the best husband who participates in all of my pumpkin indulgences!

Aubrie on the other hand spent time getting sugared-up.

She had "coffee" {hot chocolate} and Fruity Pebbles.  When you get to send them home, they can have what they want for breakfast!

And it took me an embarrassingly long time to remember I had put in a chalkboard wall during the remodel to allow me to have enough time to get dressed with a 4 year old. {How Becca never leaves the house in her pajamas seriously makes me wonder after trying to get us both dressed!}

She was busy drawing a dinosaur.
We then got to go to Aubrie's bounce house birthday party {adults got to bounce too!}, watched some OSU football, and saw Matthew and Maggie as they prepped for some hospital time.

Sunday

Woke up and found this.  How about perfect timing for the excited Momma? {Yes, she got the same picture}

Speaking of which: we were all cued up to have a nephew, and he was being stubborn.  So we went over to his house and finished up his shelves (we still have a few things here and there to add)...

 Andrew did the handiwork, I painted, Andrew hung, and I decorated {with the help of a much taller assistant}.  It was the definition of tag-teaming a project!  But I think it turned out really well.  We made another really special thing for the other wall we will show once Cooper joins us!

And yes, that is a picture of us on the middle right shelf.  We needed a picture for the frame and in Andrew's words, "he needs to grow up constantly being reminded what I look like."

And then we took Maggie the most fantastic thing we have found in the last 3 weeks:

Ladies and Gentlemen, please meet the Pumpkin Pie Concrete
We thought this would convince Cooper that the outside world is a tasty place to be.  It hasn't worked {yet}.

Cooper hasn't been convinced so we are still in the waiting game.  However, hopefully we will meet him very soon!  I know if we are this excited, Matthew and Maggie are practically sitting on pins and needles!
