Weekend Review

Hello Friends!

Here is a small weekend update for you on our very hodge-podge weekend! {Friday night was date night and lay on the couch for a good catch-up binge TV show watching.  No pictures of that because I don't want to bore you to death.}

Saturday!

We decided to start cleaning out the attic - which means after 1 week of my car in the garage, it is booted back to the driveway {for now}.  It is a much larger project than we anticipated - including a new dumpster and thorough sweep.  We finished about 25% of it and found some nice treasures that we think someone, somewhere will enjoy {read: too special to throw in the dumpster but not something we personally want to hoard}.  So we plan on selling it in some kind of Etsy or Garage Sale fashion (maybe both?)

We did find some cool things in this 25% like the original blue prints to our house, the original dream-drawing by Mrs. Murray (only she wasn't even married then!), and correspondence course materials.

Look familiar?

We had to pause the job though to go help John pick out some new granite for his kitchen.  We are going to be helping him in various ways {or planning to at least} in the kitchen.  Maybe he will let me exploit  post the pictures on here to show off.

Saturday Night

I got to go for a consolation cuddle with this cute guy:

I'll take it any day!

Sunday

We were afraid it was getting too cold at night and not warm enough in the day to make up for it.  So we decided to pick our basil and peppers.

Some of this basil is from seeds we actually gave to our wedding party - so we actually didn't pick that one in hopes of transplanting it later.
Here is how we did this extremely complicated process {that's how we kept describing it while we were doing it}:

Step 1: Pick basil and/or peppers.

 Step 2: Inspect/rinse/layout basil on a rack of any kind.

Step 3: Use your haggled-with-Lowe's fancier-than-you-expected-and-would-have-probably-paid-more-if-you-knew-about-the-features oven on the Dehydrate function until it is dry.  {But don't tell Lowe's that!}
Step 4: Realize that you may be there all day to do this correctly so you also use the {insert same descriptor} warming drawer to compliment.
Step 5: Put in jars and move on with your day - and look forward to the fact that you will have some form of "fresh" basil all winter.

Technically we still have some drying to do on those larger peppers.  But we were going for effort here, not 100% perfection!
Onto another great week!
