We started this blog as a way to keep our family and friends up to date on our lives - most notably our house remodeling and {hopefully} our cooking extravaganzas. We hope it helps keep you guys in the loop as much as we enjoy sharing it near and far!
Who we are, what we enjoy, how we got here, and where we are going:
We are both originally from Muskogee, Oklahoma - born and raised. Our families are both rooted there and have actually known each other for years.
Andrew and Kelcie first began "dating" in the 7th grade. Our mothers were on the PTA together and indicated that we just had to meet the other - we would love them. Riiiiiight. Tell a teenager they are going to like someone and you can bet they will make it so you are wrong. Kelcie didn't like Andrew and Andrew was annoyed by Kelcie. That's just how the world worked at the point in time. However, due to an untimely breakup (Andrew was "dating" Kelcie's best friend), Andrew asked Kelcie to be his girlfriend and that was that. Well, sort of.
{Please note: "dating" wasn't really adult dating. It isn't like Kelcie would have gotten away with that anyway. It was more like talking on the phone and wearing his watch [still don't know where that one got started]. "Dating" was more like the high school equivalent of "talking". Glad we are now all on the same page - because all of that makes perfect sense.}
Somewhere between 7th grade and our freshman year of college, we broke up somewhere near 50 times. This is probably not as much of an exaggeration as it is intended to be. Finally, one expectations-too-high and one immaturity later, we decided to officially call it quits.
Fast forward to here and there later. We would run into each other and never skip a beat. It was obvious we were old friends that had no hard feelings. Always teasing each other when we would run into each other, and always asking about families, life, and just generally enjoying each other.
At 24, you would have thought we had it figured out. But no, we were still in denial. Until Kelcie "accidentally" sent Andrew a text (who said middle school drama was over?). He {finally - 12 years later} put a ring on it and the rest is history.
The beginning.... |
Now, we are just a couple of old married people, renovating our house, enjoying each other's company, and praying for guidance {constantly}. In between, we root for the OSU Cowboys, cook a lot, entertain, spend a ton of time with both families, and DIY just about anything we think is possible. Life is just hunky-dory (except for when it isn't!).
For now, we are just happy to get the chance to try to figure it all out....
